Furman University Foreign Affairs Association
(FUFA)

In place since Fall 2001, the FUFA ("Model UN" at that time) program
hosts guest speakers, organizes panel discussions and talks, co-sponsors "international"
activities on campus, and participates in one or two Model UN conferences a
year. The program operates on a modest budget to cover conference registration,
transportation, and lodging. Half of this budget is covered by AFS (Association
of Furman Students) and half by the Riley Institute.
In 2005-06, FUFA Furman students were put into crisis simulations, addressing
such critical problems as terrorist attacks on the Colombian government, a Chinese
invasion of Kazakhstan, and creating a lasting peace between the governments
of Algeria and France at the Evian Conference.
