Brooke Culclasure is a Project Director with
the Riley Institute and teaches as an adjunct faculty member in
the Department of Political Science. Her teaching focuses are
American Politics and Education Policy.
She completed her undergraduate work at the
University of Richmond and earned her M.A. from the University
of Virginia in American Politics , M.A. from the University of
South Carolina in Higher Education, and Ph.D. from the University
of Virginia in Education Policy. Dr. Culclasure's past research
includes analyzing public subsidies in higher education, the effect
of reunification on the German system of education, and the ways
in which politics affects tuition-setting at public colleges and
universities.
In addition to teaching in the Department,
Dr. Culclasure serves as project director for the Riley Institute's
state-wide research project on public education funded by the
Hewlett Foundation out of California. She also served for four
years as coordinator of the Riley Institute's Emerging Public
Leaders program.
In 2006, Dr. Culclasure was recognized
as a YWCA Dream Achiever and in 2007 was named one of Greenville's
Best and Brightest Under 35. She also is a member of the Circle
of the Children's Museum, the Junior League of Greenville, and
the P.T.A. of Blythe Academy of Languages. She serves on the Westminster
Weekday School Board and the Endowment Board of the Greenville
Technical College Charter School.
