2005 Distinguished Professor Dr. Jim Guth honored at a luncheon by Governor Mark Sanford |
Dr. Jim Guth has recently been selected as a 2005 Distinguished Professor from South Carolina's senior colleges and universities. Dr. Guth was nominated to represent Furman University for the 2005 Governor's Professor of the Year and Distinguished Professors awards, and was recognized for "exceptional teaching performance in a public/private institution of higher learning in South Carolina". He was honored at a luncheon held in November, where Governor Mark Sanford praised recipients of the awards for their "excellence as a teacher, both in the classroom and beyond" and for "recognizing the importance of education" and dedicating their lives to "enlightening minds and setting an outstanding example for others." However, Dr.Guth was in Europe and therefore unable to attend the luncheon.
