Department offers five opportunites for study away/Abroad 2009-10

That's right, five. They are, in no particular order:

1,2. The Washington Internship Program
Students travel to Washington DC with Dr. Jim Guth (Spring 2009) or Dr. Akan Malici (Summer 2009) to participate in internships with politicians, businesses and organizations in the capital of the nation. Admittance to the Spring 2009 trip is closed but Summer 2009 applications are due by the end of Fall term, please stop by the department to pick one up.

3. The Brussels Internship Program
Travel to the capital of the European Union and work for the European Parliament, Research Institutions or Think Tanks, Peace and Conflict Resolution Organizations, NGO's and Pressure Groups, etc. You will also complete course work at Vesalius College and with the trip's lead ing faculty member. 4. May Experience in Washington DC and Scandinavia
Students will visit the nation's capital as well as three Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden and Norway) as they study democracy and public policy. Led by Dr. Brent Nelsen and Dorianne Norwood, this program operates under Furman's new curriculum's "May Experience" and fulfills one of the Engaged Learning credits for the Political Science major. 5. Fall Term in Ireland, the U.K. and Europe
This program is shared by the Political Science, English, Economics and Business & Accounting Departments. Students will take courses on England and Irish Literature and Nationalism and can choose between taking a Drama course at Stratford or a course on Economic and Political Analysis of the EU. Please visit any of the aforementioned departments for more information.
